Police in The City are cars on your streets, driven by officers who live in your city. They patrol, pull drivers over, write tickets and clear crashes, under rules and fines you choose.
About half of each station's cars are out on patrol at any time, on the streets that station covers. The rest stand parked at the building.

A few drivers run red lights and stop signs. Where a police car is watching, this is what follows.
A police car that sees a driver break a road rule puts its lights on.
The two cars move to the side of the road so the traffic behind can pass.
The driver is ticketed, or arrested. The ticket stays on that citizen's profile for good.
Every road rule in your city has a switch and a fine that you set. Turn one off and the police stop enforcing it.

Traffic follows the rules of the road, which means it can also go wrong.
Where crossing traffic meets, cars can collide. A police car is sent, the driver at fault gets a ticket, and the road stays blocked until the police have been.
Crashes are cleared fast when a police car is already close, so where you post patrols changes how long the jam lasts.
Police cars, fire engines and ambulances queue and stop for red lights like everyone else. Only a vehicle on an emergency call passes.
Three police buildings, each with a job.
The small station covers a neighbourhood. A dotted circle shows every home it reaches before you place it.
A larger building on a wide lot, two lots side by side along the road.
Also on a wide lot. Somewhere for the drivers who are arrested and not just ticketed.
Like every city service, police buildings need staff, who come from your residents. A building with fewer than half its staff stops working.
The City is coming to Steam Early Access.
